To Our Sonlight Families,
We are watching carefully the details of the COVID-19 pandemic and considering the ways it might affect summer camp. We have some time to plan, but we’re trying to be proactive and work out as much as we can as early as we can and at this point we are planning for camp.
Because Sonlight is an American Camp Association (ACA) Accredited camp, we have access to lots of wisdom and resources that we’re putting to good use. At this time, it is still too early to make any hard and fast decisions about our summer camp programs, but at this point we are planning for camp. Here are a few of the things that are available to our families immediately.
The ACA and the Association of Camp Nursing has provided camps a valuable document titled A Healthy Camp Begins at Home. In this time of widespread illness, the decisions you make in the coming weeks, provide the greatest protection of our summer program, and we value your vigilance.
Additionally, we recognize that many families may be experiencing loss of income due to business closures related to the COVID-19 outbreak. Sonlight has scholarship funds available for this purpose, to help you get your child to camp. Please contact Sara Tyler in the Sonlight office for more information. In this time of uncertainties, and as always, we don’t want finances to be the hindrance to your child’s camp experience.
Finally, if you would like to make any changes to your child’s camp registration, we will happily transfer their registration, with no charge, to a different week if there is space available. In addition, we will be waiving all cancellation fees for cancelling registrations through May 1, 2020.
With changes happening by the moment, please know, we are still hiring amazing staff members, designing summer program games and getting ready for the best summer ever! Thank you for including us in your plans.
We will be sending out emails as the summer approaches, but please check out the News section of your Parent Dashboard for the most up to date information. We hope to have more information and plan to send another update by April 10th. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s summer camp, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
