Sundays at Sonlight are as predictable as they can be. Staff come back after a day off, chattering about everything we managed to do in a mere 24 hours off.
We usually get through part of church, before the first camper shows up. We step up the pace, and pull out the speakers, put on the music and send someone down the road with the name tags. If the kids are young, they show up with mom, dad, brothers, sisters, cousins and a grandparent or two. If the kids are returners, they ditch mom and dad to find the cookies, and their friends. Every staff from Winston on down to the newbie is grateful for the nametags, to remind us who these kids are. Ice breakers begin, and the “awkward first day” is always a good time. 🙂 #welovecamp.
