New for 2023 Sonlight has implemented a Backpack Apprenticeship program, Amanda joins Sonlight in that role. Exploring the intricacies of a small non-profit backpack ministry Amanda brings fresh insight to the program, while learning from the experience of 44 years of Sonlight. A NOLS graduate, Amanda has a depth of backcountry leadership and experience.
Joining Sonlight summer staff in 2019, Amanda is a seasoned Sonlight staffer. She worked as a main camp counselor for two years and is going on her third year as a backpack guide.. A 2022 graduate from UNC Chapel Hill her degree is in Advertising and Public Relations. When she’s not backpacking Amanda loves mountain biking, skiing, finding new craft projects and photography.
Years of experience alongside a fresh perspective, the Sonlight backpack program is the place to be. New for 2023 we’re offing a wider variety of Sonlight sponsored trips.. New for 2023 under the guidance of Amanda, we are pursuing establishing Sonlight as a Leave No Trace Youth Accredited program.
