New Gear New Year

New Gear! Summer 2023 new gear includes Osprey packs and Crazy Creek chairs! The quality of backpacking equipment can make or break a trip. Broken tent poles, pack buckles or stoves can make a trip much more complicated. In the backcountry, there’s no easy way to replace gear!

The first Leave No Trace principle is to Plan Ahead and Prepare. We want to make sure all of our gear is reliable before we enter the backcountry, that way we can spend more time enjoying the wilderness! This winter Amanda and Winston have been working to replace older gear so that we’ll have top-notch equipment for this summer. Sonlight tries to replace gear every 5 years at a minimum in order to maintain quality experiences for our guests.

Thanks to generous donors we were able to get new Big Agnes tents, sleeping bags and sleeping pads in 2022. This year we will have new Osprey backpacks and Crazy Creeks. Amanda and Winston spent a day at the Osprey corporate office in Cortez in order to select backpacks that meet the needs of our program.
