From the Sonlight Leadership Team
Emrys, Sara and Bryce
In our COVID-19 afflicted world, the information we receive on keeping ourselves healthy and safe changes daily, if not hourly. We are taking in all of the information we can from our governing bodies and using our camp-powers of collaboration, ingenuity, creativity and flexibility to apply this information to our summer camp season. At this time, we do not have enough information to make firm decisions for our summer programming schedule, but hope to have a clearer picture of the summer by May 1st.
In this time of uncertainty, what can you expect from Sonlight for summer 2020?
- You can expect us to Be with Kids and Show Them God, in whatever ways that our health officials deem safe.
- You can expect that we will have an amazing staff in place. We have a full staff of incredible young people who are ready to come and spend their summer here at Sonlight.
- You can expect this summer to Be Different-have you read Bryce’s blog about our theme? We had no idea when we settled on this theme last December how appropriate it would be. We are all certainly living through something different than we expected!
- You can expect that your child’s health and safety are among our top priorities and that will be at the center of our decision making process for all of our programming.
Camper Required Forms
Please take a minute to review our Required Camper forms on our website that are due by May 15th, taking special note to the section on Physical Exam forms. The regulations by which Sonlight has to abide by have changed allowing us to accept Physical Exam Forms dated within 24 months of start of your child’s camp. Our staff has reviewed prior year’s records and marked the Physical Exam Form received if we have a valid Physical on file for your child. It will show as “received” on your Parent Dashboard.
The Health Form (online or paper), completed by a parent or guardian, is still required every year. If your child’s health history has notably changed or their necessary medications have changed, we will need you and your child’s physician to complete a Medication Permission Form to be added to your child’s Physical for this year. All medications (prescription, over the counter, or homeopathic) that you would like your child to receive while at camp MUST be listed on their Physical Exam form or on a Medication Permission Form AND arrive at camp in its original packaging.
Payment Plans, Scholarships and Financial Hardship
At this time, if you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact our staff about your Sonlight payments; we want to help. We are happy to defer spring payments for Payment Plans into the fall. We also have scholarship funds available if that will help make camp possible for your child. Your current balance is available on your Parent Dashboard.
Cancellation Policy
For the remainder of this summer season, we will be waiving cancellation fees for cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the start of your child’s session of camp, and for any COVID-19 quarantines or required self-isolations as directed by a physician.
Communication is key, so it bears saying again: if you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 970.264.4379.
Praying for you and the world,
