THE HYBRID MIND

The More High-Tech Education Becomes, The More Nature Our Children Need

We are revisiting some wisdom from Richard Louv, author of The Last Child in the Woods, and The Nature Principal. With high tech learning that is going on world wide because of coronavirus, kids will need camp this summer! Stars, campfires, mountains and forests. We don’t have answers about what summer 2020 will look like, but we’re listening to experts and the people who regulate us. We’re planning for summer camp 2020, knowing that there may be some modifications. But we do know that camp is valuable in our world and we are committed to responsibly make camp happen if possible!

I believe that a central goal of modern education should be to encourage such flexible thinking, to nurture the hybrid mind — to stimulate both ways of knowing in the world: digital and direct experience.
