Shattering a big window with a hula hoop

During summers, the camp is filled with kids having fun. That is what summer camp is about. In Winchester Cathedral, a girl was near the back of the room and spinning a hula hoop with grace and expertise. This was not her first time.

All of a sudden, one of the front picture windows shattered with a great noise and explosion. Thousands of small pieces of glass came down on the floor. For safety, they are designed to shatter into 1,000’s of small pieces. What happened? Wow!

We discovered that the hula hoop had come apart and the small ball bearing that was inside the hula hoop to make noise came shooting out, went across the room full of kids and hit the glass window. How lucky that no camper was hit by this high speed projectile! The girl felt horrible for breaking a window. It was not her fault. No problem.

We cleaned up all the glass and after everyone calmed down, we all had a big laugh. Making camp memories with hula hoops.
