When asked which programs turn around kids’ lives. “I still haven’t seen one program change one kid’s life,” he says. “What changes people is relationships. Somebody willing to walk through the shadow of the valley of adolescence with them.”
This week a camper said that what makes him feel loved is when counselors return to Sonlight summer after summer. He said it makes him feel important, that counselors will give their summer to be with kids like him.
It’s about the relationships. We are proud to have counselors return year after year during their college years. Bryce, Henry, Johnathan, Michael, Natalie, Aaron – all are veteran counselors who could do any number of things with their summer weeks. And they choose to be at Sonlight. To be with kids. And show them God.
