smoke visible from the WestFork Wildfire

smoke visible from the WestFork Wildfire

Wednesday was warm, windy and dry in the southwest, and the WestFork Complex wildfire had an active day, continuing to push to the north into the Weminuche Wilderness (away from camp). From the Archuleta County Emergency Management folks:

Fire activity has picked up on both the West Fork and Windy Pass Fires this afternoon. A large smoke plume is visible from communities within a 75-mile radius. Prevailing winds from the southwest are pushing the West Fork Fire northward up the West Fork drainage and to the northeast up the Beaver Creek drainage. The fire is not making a push to the south at this time.

6:30AM at camp, skies are clear with only a hint of smoke in the air. Winds are calm, but the day is predicted to be windy and warm agin.

A full day planned for camp- campers and counselors are having a great time!
