My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return.
– Maya Angelou

Our job descriptions don’t tell the whole story of what we do as Sonlight staff members. This summer there are 27 of us on summer staff, committed to this ministry for an entire season: 11 weeks of being with kids and showing them God. The nature of this place creates a space for laughter. Our days are full of the work of daily living: washing dishes, maintaining buildings: mowing: cooking. And our days are full of the work of community. Laughing with each other: listening: being vulnerable. To accept the love of a kid, and to be open to laughing is part of what we do and why we do it. And in the words of a parent: “I saw the photos from yesterday. Every faces tell they are full of fun”
