And Here Comes Summer 2018

We’re so looking forward to camp! It’s an experience that shapes our lives, and fuels us for the rest of the year. Research shows that when our “wellness bank” gets poured in to, it gives us what we need when we go back home and face the things that are hard. The things we live at camp are what we need to fill that “wellness bank.” Caring relationships, lots of laughter, good food, healthy exercise, challenges where we can succeed, being mentored by solid role models, time to explore our faith and the things we believe in. Every day of camp is made up of all of these things.

We’re wrapping up 10 days of staff training, and can hardly wait for campers! Suggestions for parents:

  • Arrival time is 4:30-5:30 on Sundays. Most kids like to get to camp closer to 4:30 to choose their bunk. Thanks for not being early, it allows our staff time for last minute preparation for camp
  • We do all we can to provide for dietary restrictions. Please contact Sara, (co-director and foodservice director) to make sure she knows how to best meet your child’s dietary needs. (970) 264-4379 or  [email protected]
  • Colorado child care regulations were changed in many ways this past winter. Please help Sonlight to comply with state regulations. We do not have an option to not meet these state laws, and our licensing depends on our compliance. Some changes of note:
    • All camper healthy history and physical forms must be returned to camp at least 2 weeks before camp. You can no longer just bring them to camp on opening day if you don’t get them to us by the Sonlight requested date of May 15th.
    • Our RN’s can only give homeopathic’s and vitamins IF there is a written prescription from a physician or nurse practitioner.
    • We must document who your camper leaves with on closing day. Thanks for your help with this.
    • And all the “behind the scenes” new regulations? Not enough space here to cover them all! Give Emrys or Sara a call if you want to hear more!
  • Any concerns about camp? Give us a call! Becca (our wonderful Office Assistant) has the answers, or can direct you to the person who can help. (970) 264-4379.
