Navigating Change
The Sonlight Board of Directors continues the work of moving Sonlight to the Next Generation, creating a mature organization that will live beyond the founders. With a full winter in 2023/2024 the position of Hospitality Director was logical, and we welcomed long time Sonlight staff member Henry Stam into the position. Our year did not unfold as anticipated, with significantly fewer guest groups, and less interest in retreat groups for 2025/2026. The Board has made the decision to eliminate the Hospitality Director position.
The Sonlight Board continues to assess the need for every position. At this time, a full time year round Hospitality Director doesn’t best meet Sonlight’s organizational needs as we create strucutre to move beyond the founders. The Sonlight Board is grateful for Henry being part of the team, acknowledging that there are challenges in new positions and organizational growth.
The Sonlight Board continues the process of navigating “next steps” for leadership position(s) that support what is ahead as we continue to develop into a mature organization.
We’re grateful for the Sonight community, campers, staff, guests and families who are with us through the challenges and the successes!
We are living in to the season that is ahead. Summer camps for 2025 are over 90% full, we’re optimistic for some changes to our Adventure Based program, that we can better meet the needs of young people. Staffing is solid for the upcoming summer, there is much to celebrate!
