Positive Childhood Experiences
Intentional in our work! The Sonlight Leadership Team is deeply invested in the work of camp, creating a community of well-being. We know that the evidence points to the outcomes. Positive childhood experiences are the antidote to the mental health crisis we are seeing in youth.
From the MyView Digital Empathy screening tool we implemented in 2024, to the CampWell trainings our leadership and frontline staff have been involved in (2023 and 2024) we know the work of camp matters. We continue to provide experiences that allow kids to be safe, supported, and connected. We provide opportunities for kids to contribute to the community, to be in nature and be unplugged.
We are grateful for the opportunities to be on the front lines of work being done in camps and out of school programs to provide places for kids to thrive. Most of the work underscores the core values that Sonlight has always had. We have been given consistent language to wrap around the work we are already doing, and had many opportunities to connect with other camps doing the same work. It is impactful!
Join us in 2025! Staff applications are open for students a year out of high school, to join our work in a summer staff position. Camper registrations open January 2. You’ll be glad to be part of the Sonlight community!
