Places to Connect: Join Us in Maintaining the Spaces
A capital campaign! Sonlight is celebrating 45 years this summer, and there is need for structural (decks) and visual updates. This campaign is not just about boards and hardware though. The Sonlight decks, adirondack chairs and picnic tables serve as places of connection and conversation. We are investing in the well-being of a whole community who will benefit from our collective efforts.
High School youth and adults from the United Church in Los Alamos will provide the labor to kick off the work, spending their spring break in March, beginning to replace decks. We are grateful for the support of Randy and Laura Erickson in organizing the mission team that’ll make it happen! We’ll start with the primary decks, and in the next 2 years work to replace most of the decks on the property with materials funded by the Sonlight community.
Both for aesthetic and functional needs, new adirondack chairs, picnic tables, and entrance signs will be purchased to further cultivate a hospitable environment. Additionally, the “replace windows” project started in 2022 will be continued through completion.
To date, Sonlight Camp has received $26,410 towards the projected cost, we invite you all to join us in meeting our goal of $40,000 for these upgrades. Sonlight Camp is a 501(c)3 organization, all donations are tax deductible.
A special thanks to Bryce & Natalie Baca, Mike Coltrin, Bret Hamilton, Karamie Hartman, Winston & Mary Marugg, Rhonda & Donnie McClure, Summit Church, Nina Thayer, and the United Church of Los Alamos (UCLA) for providing foundational donations to get us well on our way!
