Plumtaw Fire
May 19, 2022
First spotted in the early afternoon on May 17, the Plumtaw fire north of Sonlight Camp spread quickly, and as of the first evening was over 600 acres. At one point it grew an acre a minute. The fire is less than 2 miles from Sonlight, but it’s not burning towards camp at this time. The fire is up on the Plumtaw road, very near the Dutton Ditch area where we hike with kids.
From the Pagosa SUN: Multiple large air tankers (LATs), one lead plane, an air attack platform and three helicopters are working this fire with ground crews and bulldozers. A Type 3 Incident Management Team will be taking command of the incident, and a Complex Incident Management Team (formerly referred to as a Type I or II Team) has been ordered along with additional resources and crews. Resources from multiple state, federal, county and municipal agencies are working in close coordination.
We’ll keep you updated as we learn more! Thanks for prayers for rain and for the winds to die down.
Spring Workgroups
How we appreciate our workgroups! Friends from Washington state, Durango, Los Alamos, Wichita KS, Kansas City, MO and Arizona City, AZ have joined us to prepare camp for summer 2022. We are so grateful for their labor, wisdom and companionship. Painting, lots of cleaning, weeding, mowing, sewing and small maintenance projects are so appreciated. Thanks friends!
