Sonlight COVID-19 Relief Fund

This fund will help us manage the financial toll that has become evident due to the pandemic.

*  Support our Scholarship Fund for families who have sustained significant financial hardship from the pandemic if we are able to operate a summer program.

• For unexpected costs associated with operating Sonlight safely in the coming months.

• To offset income loss and support the General Operation fund until normal operations resume.

Or you may mail your check to Sonlight Christian Camp, PO Box 536, Pagosa Springs CO 81147

We understand that everyone is impacted differently by the events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.  If you are in a place to help Sonlight continue through this difficult time we’d appreciate your help.

Changes We’ve Made

Sonlight has always prided itself on being able to do a lot with a little and finding creative fixes to hard problems.  This season is no different, and we are working hard to find possible fixes.

*  Effective April 1 we reduced all non-essential expenses and cut spending except utilities and projects that were already funded through designated donations

*  We have applied for Paycheck Protection Plan funding

*  Effective April 1st, Sara cut her hours to ¾ time.

*  Effective April 19th, the Sonlight Directors have agreed to 20% pay cuts.

*  Currently, serving family style meals has been prohibited by health rules and we have concerns about safe social distancing in our normally full dining room.  We have secured borrowed buffet equipment from a local organization as well as large party tents from a church close to Sonlight. This will allow us to adapt our meals to buffet and to provide additional dining spaces outside.

These are just a few of the challenges we are up against in order to provide a safe camp.  We are hopeful that our fall season may look “normal” but have already had groups cancel. So, while we hold on hope, we are looking at this with the realistic view that travel and retreats could be effected through our fall and winter season.
