Why is the Upstairs Lodge wall only 4 feet high?

The two story Lodge was the second main building that we constructed. The first was the Bath House. That was the building where we learned how to construct log buildings. Now, it was time for the large two story job. Sonlight did not have enough money to purchase all the materials so we borrowed some money from a bank. ($ 25,000 but it was huge amount of money for us at the time.) Then, we bought sand, gravel, cement, logs, lumber, spikes, nails, windows, plywood, and roofing material. Now, let’s put up a log building. And off we go!

We put up the first two rows of logs and built the main floor. So far so good. Next, we stacked the log walls up until we were at the second floor level. Then, we build the second story floor. Good. Now, it was time to add the rest of the logs for the second story walls. Oh no! We are not going to have enough logs! We used every log we had and made the walls the same height all the way around the building. But, we were only about 4 feet above the second story floor. OK then! Stop the walls and let’s put the roof on. And we did.

So that is why and how the upstairs side walls are so short. Sonlight just ran out of logs!  But now, Sonlight had a Lodge where we could sleep kids, feed them and have program. Good job.
