Come On Rain

Winter snowpack levels were at 30% by the end of the season, and we haven’t had much spring rain. Southern Colorado (parts of Utah, Arizona and New Mexico) are in severe drought, and we feel it at camp. The meadow was green in May, though not the deep rich green we’re used to. And it’s drying out quickly. The Animas River is dropping fast, we don’t anticipate a long rafting season. Fire restrictions were in place as of early June, no open burning is permitted in our county, the National Forest or wilderness — so no campfires.

We ask you to join with us to pray for rain, we need it so badly. For the first time two weeks ago we had rain at camp, some slow, steady gentle rain. It was great, but wasn’t nearly enough. We’re monitoring fire danger and drought conditions. We are planning alternate activities to rafting, and possibly day hikes if stricter forest usage regulations are implemented. We do know that we serve a sovereign God, and He has a plan for all of it. We’ve had dry conditions before, and camp is still great even with some changes. Look forward to some amazing things coming your way this summer!
