Rest, Peace, Prayer
I wandered through the Sonlight lodge, surveying the field and seeing if there were any unmet needs. I checked the coffee bar, the fresh fruit basket, and the status of the fire in the wood stove. Then I took a moment to watch our guests.
One sat at the table next to the fire, poring over the bible and taking notes in the workbook provided by the retreat speaker.
One worked assiduously on a piece of artwork spread across another dining room table.
Three sat, warm mugs in hand, talking quietly and laughing.
Two stood outside the picture windows, staring off the deck into the aspen golds beyond the meadow.
At the memory of some unfinished mundane daily task, I headed toward the staff room. There, next to the rack of clean cups, stood two women, the older one embracing and praying for the younger.
Rest, peace, prayer. This is Sonlight.
