When we walk through each day of summer camp we are reminded of life lived well. We just wrapped up a high school week, and what a week it was. The power of community is inspiring, when kids and staff feel loved, accepted and that they have a place they can be themselves. A full week it was, we rafted and hiked. We were inspired by the words of Bryce Baca. We had a wedding and we did messy games in the rain.
Congratulations to Charlie and Ruth Mozisek. Charlie is a long time (30+ years) volunteer who has his handprint all over the Sonlight property. He has built, maintained and infused his love in to creativity into the buildings and grounds. He and his new bride Ruth are at Sonlight for just a couple weeks this summer. On Wednesday evening they exchanged vows at the outdoor chapel. A tiny wedding cake by Sara, a wildflower bouquet and a wedding conducted by their new friend Pastor Jim made for a memorable time. The high school kids were having a cookout during the wedding, but were quick to cheer for the newlyweds when they drove off in the golf cart. This is life. And it is a privilege to walk thru life with those around us. Congratulations to Charlie and Ruth!
So thank you to the staff. To the counselors who spend every minute of every day with kids. To the behind the scenes staff who mow, clean, organize and do the endless tasks to make camp run smoothly. To the volunteers who step in to the chaos and lend a hand. To the leadership who has vision for it all.
