Update June 12, 2026

What an opening week to Summer 2026! Last Sunday we welcomed 55 middle schoolers to Sonlight Camp, full of enthusiasm, expectations, friendships and a few opening day jitters. To have the kids arrive is our reward for all the planning, dreaming and creativity that we have put in over the months since last summer.

Here’s the deal: we all love working with you because you are passionate and fiercely committed to your kids AND you also know that a camp experience–allowing your child to be away from you for a week creates new growth, new perspectives and new opportunities for independence and self-efficacy. We also know it is hard. We also know that giving your child the opportunity to be in a space with exceptional counselors and be supported as they try new things is invaluable.

The Sonlight Leadership staff and the summer staff deeply value the opportunity to Be With Kids, and Show Them God. Through all of our work and play we know that He is behind it all.

Our week has been full of laughter. Team building. New friendships. A beautiful hike into the wilderness. Messy games. Great food (thanks cooks!). Campfires and more.

It’s been an amazing start to our 47th summer here at Sonlight Camp, and we know that the positive impact of camp will last long beyond the goodbyes we say at the end of the week.
