January Update: Programs, Plans & Highlights

With a historically low snowpack, it’s not our usual January. Warm sunny days and a snow free meadow isn’t what we expect this time of year, but our winter calendar is busy with ski and winter retreat groups. Youth from FBG Church (Georgetown, TX) were our guests in early January and even with low snow depth they reported good skiing at Wolf Creek. Youth from Sandia Presbyterian (Albuquerque) enjoyed fall-like weather for their January retreat.

The Leadership team is in full on planning mode for summer 2026. Registrations are rolling in, if you don’t have a spot for the summer don’t delay in registering! Between group hosting and planning time, we find opportunities to explore the ski area, it’s great to get out in the mountains.

Staff hiring is in full swing. Consider applying for a position at Sonlight for summer 2026! Kitchen crew, RN’s, Adventure / Backpack staff and counseling staff all have a place at camp this summer.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to host winter groups, plan for summer and enjoy the mountains we live in!
