Food concerns are real! Food is cultural and foundational to who we are as humans. There are allergies, preferences and intolerances. It’s scarey if you don’t know what you will eat, if you can eat it or even like it!

Sonlight food is excellent. Made from scratch with real ingredients. We serve primarily ‘family style’ where bowls of food are set on the table and passed around, so you can choose what you’d prefer to eat. Many meals are served deconstructed, so you can build your meal the way you’d like it. More pasta, less pasta, buttered noodles, spaghetti sauce with meat or without, you get to choose how you build you meal. Gluten free option are available.

Sonlight is “nut aware”, meaning that we do have nuts and nut butters at times, but our food service staff is well-aware of making sure they are visibly marked and identified.

It is most important that kids get enough to eat, and we provide ample meals and snacks so kids are well fueled for the busy days. Kids are never forced to eat something they don’t want, but we encourage kids to try foods they may not have had before. Fresh fruit is always available, and snacks are frequent. Meal times are important at Sonlight. We show love and respect to our campers by great home-made food, and value meal times as a significant part of community building.
