COVID and Summer Camp

As of January 2022

Licensed by the Colorado Division of Childcare and San Juan Basin Health Department, Sonlight Camp receives guidance regarding COVID precautions, testing, exposures and positivity through these regulatory organizations. As regulations emerge throughout the spring, Sonlight will be sharing that information with our campers and families.

As we launch into staff hiring season, we will be giving hiring preference to fully vaccinated individuals. The Colorado Division of Childcare has not yet provided COVID vaccine guidance for campers however Sonlight Camp is required to know the vaccine status of all campers and staff as part of the intake process.

Non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) will be implemented as required/or considered best practice by the Health Department and Division of Childcare, to include masking, distancing, handwashing, cohorting, testing and outside meals and activities. Details will be provided to parents, campers and staff over the next few months.

Sonlight leadership staff is closely following the research from the Association of Camp Nursing on the COVID impact to camps in 2021, and strategies that were implemented to reduce or eliminate COVID outbreaks and transmission.  As we share information with our camp participants, we are eager for everyone to feel confident that we are basing our guidelines on the best evidence available with the intent of creating fun, healthy community experiences.  We appreciate your cooperation and patience through the process.
