I sat down with Aaron Obidigbo the other day to ask him some get to know you questions, to share with all of you! Aaron joined Sonlight’s year round staff at the beginning of September. His title is Assistant Director and is with us through out the year to help with all things Sonlight! And to learn some more about how a camp operates. Aaron is from Houston, Texas and has been on Summer Staff at Sonlight for 3 years.
If you could eat anything right now, what would you eat? My Chick-Fil-A order: a chicken sandwich with barbecue sauce, 4 piece chicken strips, large fry and a arnold palmer with sweet tea and light ice.
If you could have 3 wishes granted, what would they be?
1. I wish I could have a dog, specifically a St. Bernard named Titus
2. I wish I would never have to pay for shoes again
3. I wish I could grow a better beard
If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
A honey badger. Why? Because that’s just who I am. But really, they do eat a lot and they are pretty active.
Your favorite spot at camp: The ski lift chair in-front of the bell
Your favorite part about summer camp: I like the moments where we aren’t doing a program activity and you have a chance to sit and talk with kids, whether it’s about something serious or just funny jokes. It’s the moments when you get to just sit and talk with kids and be real with each other that I really enjoy.
What’s one of your favorite summer camp memories?
When I got to dress up like a clown for the Sonlight Circus and dance to the worship song “Oceans”.
What are you looking forward to, being at Sonlight year round?
I’m looking forward to learning more about camp and how it works. As well as discovering what other ways I can impact the people that come to Sonlight – the kids, staff, and adults.
Some wise words from Aaron:
Live boldly and don’t be ashamed of who you are.
