Backpack 2015! Sonlight trips have been an adventure. Late snow has created some interesting journeys with swollen creeks, snow crossings and muddy trails. July 15 we still were hiking around frozen high country lakes. New Big Agnes gear has been excellent, especially the tents and sleeping bags. Sonlight guides are now carrying a SPOT device, able to transmit pre-programmed messages. Each night they send a SPOT check-in message, and back at camp we know exactly where they are, and that they’re ok. In the event they need assistance, they can transmit a message via satellite.
This week Mary and Josi scouted out the Elwood Pass ▶︎ CDT ▶︎ Quartz Lake trail. The high meadows and peaks are as green as they can be, and wildflowers carpet the hillsides. (See photos below.)
