“The essential thing in heaven and earth is … that there should be long obedience in the same direction; there thereby results, and has always resulted in the long run, something which has made life worth living”

 – Friedrich Nietzsche

“In our world today, there is an assumption that anything worthwhile can be acquired at once.We assume that if something can be done at all, it can be done quickly and efficiently. Our attention spans have been conditioned by 30 second commercials. But we have been called to something different than that. We are called to live as pilgrims, continually going to God. It is a lifetime we are called to.” (Eugene Peterson)

And so it is with our Sonlight journey through the summer. We’re in week four. The kids this week are awesome, and we gain so much positive from them. Just when we think our day looks routine, and there is one more water balloon to fill, or one more dish to wash, or one more pizza to make or one more whatever-it-is…. the smile on a kids face makes us remember that there is nothing routine about our life. Each day is unique, and each kid adds to the joy of our journey.
