“The way of Jesus cannot be imposed or mapped — it requires an active participation in following Jesus as he leads us through sometimes strange and unfamiliar terrritory, in circumstances that become clear only in the hesitations and questionings, in the pauses and reflections where we engage in prayerful conversation with one another and with him.”
— Eugene H. Peterson (The Jesus Way: A Conversation on the Ways That Jesus Is the Way)

We’ve had good conversations this week, one in particular with a camper mom. Our Sonlight journey of 32 years has been one through “strange and unfamiliar territory”. Yet God is so faithful. Talking to this mom, her words were encouraging as she reported the joy on the face of her son when he came home form camp. A young man struggling with depression, and struggling to find his place in this big ‘ol world.  At Sonlight he finds peace, and finds himself in a safe place. Feeling accepted by counselors and staff he is able to let down his guard. Our world is complicated and tough. It is a privilege to be used by God to provide a simple place  where kids  feel safe, and experience the presence of Jesus. Makin’ changes in the world. One kid at a time.
