Parent’s Questions –
I’m nervous about my child’s first time at camp. What things do I need to know?
We understand it can sometimes be hard, deciding where and at what age, to send your child to summer camp. Here at Sonlight, we believe in the benefits of summer camp: emotional development, spiritual growth, safe interactions within a supporting community, etc. We also believe in having the very best counseling staff, who are hand-picked, and who undergo (10) days of training before our summer season. Lastly, we train extensively, and adjust our program, to make new campers feel safe, secure, and at home.
Is Junior Camp a good fit for my child?
Junior Camp is designed for kids with little or no summer camp experience. We sometimes refer to it as “mini-camp”. It consists of a shorter week (4-days/3-nights), your child is with other 3rd-4th graders, and our staff pays special attention to the specific needs of children in this age group. Our program consists of arts and crafts, meadow games, nature hikes, and other camp activities.
